Milk for Miley

Miley was born on April 20, weighing only 4 pounds, 6 ounces. She was diagnosed with Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR), meaning her weight was below the 10th percentile for a newborn. Its a growth disorder specifically, it means the developing baby weights less than 90% of other babies at the same gestational age.

Because of this, she must rely solely on breast milk. She can not tolerate formula, goats milk...nothing but human breast milk.  I am however not producing any milk and hence looking for any donors willing to donate their breast milk to this cause. We have tried seven different kinds of formula to help Miley gain weight, but our tiny infant has had allergic reactions to all of them, and developed such severe colic that she started turning away from the bottle when we would try to feed her. The only thing that will help Miley get better is breast milk.

At first the Doctors told Me to stop breast feeding Miley. They advised me she wasn't gaining weight fast enough and that Miley needed more then what my own breastmilk was given her.  So the Doctors put her on formula.

Days then weeks went by trying every formula known to man kind with break outs, hives then colic all allergic reactions to each different type of formula we tried. We had specialists doctors and pediatricians all trying different things.

Three months after her birth all our little girl weight in at 3 pound clinging to life. She wouldn't take more then an 1oz at a feeding. Nothing was working! I could feel my baby girl sleeping away just watching her each day get worse and worse.

Miley Only 3 pounds

There was nothing I could do! Our last hope was in Donor Breast milk. As Breast milk was the only thing she never had issues with.

She was withered away in front of us, and we started reaching out asking pleading for help from other mothers. Anyone with the willingness to help out daughter.

I was doing all i could to bring back in my own milk (( after we found breast milk was the key for Miley )) hrs pumping working with IBCLC's. With little to no luck at all maybe 1 to 5 ML a day!  uses a hospital grade breast pump five to eight times a day and takes an herbal supplement to help increase lactation. But still only produces a few drops of milk a day. The doctors and IBCLC at this point believe my PCOS is whats playing a big part in not being able to supply milk. As her mother i can tell you what if felt like not being able to provide the life saving milk her little body needed so badly.

It took us so long with PCOS to even get pregnant let alone have a child. I can't give up on our angle!

My little girl life was know dependent on strangers with the willingness to give my daughter a fighting chance at life!

We where desperate!

I just did whatever I could. I drove an hour and 20 minutes one way, just to pick up 10 oz. of milk. That's only enough for a few bottles, not even enough for a full day. Posting up ads on Craigslist Newspaper.

Trying all the Online donations Groups www.milkshare.com and www.humanmilkforhumanbabies.com with no much luck. There just isn't enough moms donating! Not enough moms know about these donations centers!!!!We spent countless hours online. I works tirelessly to solicit donations from mothers in the area and outside the state. I'm up until three or four in the morning trying to connect with moms.

Finally some milk starting coming in... after local News station heard of my daughter fight for life... They ran  Miley's story!!!

After only 3 weeks on breast milk, it seems Miley is making progress. She is now two-thirds larger at six pounds, two ounces - seemingly about a pound a week. She is also sleeping more soundly without the colic and allergy symptoms. The average 3-month-old baby weighs anywhere from 11 pounds to 14 pounds, according to Gerber.com.

Miley will continue needing breast milk to try to catch up with such statistics. And since the Pediatrics recommends that breastfeeding continue for at least 2 years, we must continue to work tirelessly to find the resources Miley needs.

Miley 6 Pounds After 2 weeks of Getting Donor milk (( 3 months old ))

I just can't believe the amount of difference breast milk makes in our baby!

Miley's fight is going to be long and hard. Dr. Adib M. Khouzami, a gynecologist for Conemaugh OB/GYN Associates in Johnstown, delivered Miley via cesarean section. He said of the 10 percent of babies born with Intrauterine Growth Restriction, Miley's is an extreme case.

Miley is getting stronger every day. She'll be on the petite side. As for her road ahead some milestones in her development have already passed her by. We are going to be in need of donor milk tell Miley reaches 2 years of age. We are in hope that with donation of life saving gift of gold (( breast milk )) The stem cells and antibodies will give her just what she needs in each bottle to start to grow and meet those Milestones that all us parents look forward to.

We will continue to put Miley and her needs above everything else in her life. Each Donation makes a difference in our babys' life.

Breast milk can be purchased at a milk bank, however the charge is $4 per ounce, and you moms know a three month old can drink about 20 to 25 ounces a day!  With the help of other moms willing to share breast milk the doctor said there is a light at the end of the tunnel which is all they can hope for. If local moms can't help we must turn to a milk bank!

We created this site with hope to raise  money to purchase milk, supplies to ship milk, shipping funds its self, along with supplying the donors with ever they need breast milk baggies, pump rental! And to be able to supply breast milk bags to any mother willing to pump and donate to Miley.  Anything left over will go to medically associated bills, and other costs involved with obtaining breast milk for Miley.

At this point in time Miley is starting to put on weight up from 3 pounds just three weeks ago @ 3 months of page to 6 pounds! She still hasn't grown in length but we are hoping with the weight gain and the Lords good grace that she might delight us all and grow just a little.

All we hope and dream for our daughter is that she is given the chance at life and to spend it with us growing in to a beautiful woman. Each donation, Each oz of Breast Milk has given us hope. Hope that was once lost! Hope to see our child grow in to a beautiful woman.

Any and all money will go directly to the Palmonka Family and any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.
